How To Get Your Video on a Popular Video's Related Listing

Have you ever watched a popular video on You Tube with over a million views and wondered what it would be like to have your video show up on the related video list to that video?   Here is a powerful technique that I have used to take the place of the video response technique recently squashed by the "New" You Tube layout that no longer displays the four most recent video responses to a video underneath it.  Instead of placing your video under an already popular video as a video response, you can now place your video in the related video list on the right of that video.  Before, you could optimize this technique to show up on top of the related video listings and now the new You Tube layout automatically shows four of that user's videos first.  The best you can shoot for now is the sought after number five position.

This is not going to allow you to show up on "already" popular videos' related lists.  However, it will allow you to show up on a video's related list that has just been uploaded.  If you know for a fact that video is going to become popular, it is a good idea to show up on its related video listing.  Some of the popular stars get over 3 million views with in three days after uploading a video.  That is three million people who have your video as a selection in the related videos after watching his or her video.  Back in the day before the "New" You Tube, your video would show up right on his or her's player first if it was first in line.  Now, the first four will always belong to that user unless he or she does not have many other videos.  The video could be about dogs, and the next "related" video could be about deep sea fishing simply because it was created by the same user.

Getting your video to show up on a related video listing of a video that has just been uploaded is almost against the terms and conditions set forth by You Tube under the misleading tags category.  However, there are lots of "You Tube Partners" who use this technique.  I have used this technique without any negative feedback or reactions.

How it works:

1) Relate your channel to his or her channel using Squidoo to create a lens with tons of text using his or her channel name and yours.  Use their tags in the lens' keywords, description and title.  Also post your videos and theirs to the lens.  The textual content must contain a hyper-link to your channel and theirs using one of your common tags pointing to them and one of theirs pointing to your channel.  Also use Digg, popular forums and StumbleUpon to do the same.  Only you do not  have to spend all day typing on these sites.  A simple mention of your channel name with theirs will be fine.  The search engine spiders will see your channel name and theirs together on a high PR site and tell You Tube about what they found.  You must respect the fine line between spam and helpful information when posting things on forums.  If your posts are deleted for spam it could have a negative effect on relating your channel to theirs.  To learn more about creating a hyper-link see the tutorial on getting your video on Google search results as a video result.

2) Stuff your tags and description - Here is where you bend the rules a little on You Tube.  Make sure your videos are somewhat related to theirs before doing this or you will get reported by the You Tube community and your channel could be zapped by a You Tube moderator.  In the web site world, key word stuffing is frowned upon and will hurt your page rank or could even have your site banned from the search engines all together.  But, in the video world of search engine optimization there is not a penalty for "tag" stuffing your description with a high keyword density.  So, right after your favorite star uploads a video, use their tags as yours and add one word from your title to the end.  Then you can either use his title five or ore times in a row in your description along with the tags or you can just use his tags five or more times in a row in your description.  Each time he uploads a video, change your tags to his again and again.  If your video his watched all the way through and liked by the viewers in the eyes of You Tube, your video will get stuck on the related listings.

This allows for enough views to get your video seen by those who embed videos on their site if it is something they are looking for.  You would be surprised how many people have your video on their site.  Type link:YOUR VIDEO URL HERE on Google and it will show all of the sites linking to your video.  This also works for website URLs.
